Hey. I'm here. You don't have to explain everything at once — just start wherever feels right. What's going on with you?
I've just been feeling really off lately. Like I can't explain it.
That's okay. “Off” is real, even when it's hard to name. Tell me more — I'm not going anywhere.
I just feel like nobody actually gets it.
I hear you. And I want to understand. Can you tell me a little more about what “getting it” would actually look like to you?

✍️ Lived Experience. Not Studied Experience.

There are already 50+ mental health orgs.
So why did we build FOM?

So many people in the industry explain it inaccurately even though they have the right agenda. It's not their fault — many have studied it instead of living through it. FOM was built by humans who have been through it. That's what makes us different.

🤝
We're NOT a Crisis Hotline
FOM is the step before and after crisis. We fill the gap that exists between “I'm not okay” and “I'm calling 988” — and the long road after. That gap is where most young humans fall through.
🌎
Free. Forever. No Exceptions.
Therapy costs money. FOM is consistent, personalized, ongoing peer support — free for every young human on the planet. Geography and income should never determine who gets support.
💬
No Advice. Just Listening.
Who needs another list of generic suggestions? FOM doesn't advise. We support. We listen. We show up. That's it. Because sometimes that's all a young human needs — someone who actually hears them.
L. Finesse's Story

From Mental Prison
to Mental Freedom.

“I'm not proud of my attempts. But I'm not ashamed either. It's my story, my truth. I got so many chances to live and make it right — and so many people don't get a single chance.”— L. Finesse Humxn, Co-Founder & Executive Director

From Mental Prison to Mental Freedom: My Journey Through the Mental Health System

On July 8th, 1998, six-year-old Finesse watched her little sister Jelisa get hit by a hit-and-run driver walking home from the park. She was never the same. She started asking why Jelisa got to go to a better place and she didn't. Her family's response: silence. God doesn't make mistakes.

By age 6 she had her first psychiatrist. By 12, her first suicide attempt. At 13, a school guidance counselor spotted dark writing in her notebook and Baker Acted her within two hours. Her parents were threatened with arrest if they didn't drop her off. Nobody was prepared — least of all a 13-year-old who just wanted to be heard.

Inside the “Mental Prison” — awful food, no freedom, medication forced without consent. She learned fast: smile, comply, fake it to get out. She came out knowing more about how to actually unalive herself than when she went in. That's what one-size-fits-all treatment does.

Nearly 30 therapists over 15 years. Same generic suggestions. Nobody took the time to actually know her. Until one did. At age 26, a therapist just listened — consistently — and that was enough. That gap between struggling and being truly heard is exactly what FOM exists to fill.

FOM Lingo

FOM's language is informal, relatable, and easy to understand. No technical terms overkill. We talk like the young humans we serve.

The Semicolon ;
A semicolon shows that your story is not over. You could have ended the sentence, but you chose to continue. That's why we always write FOM; — and why every session, every space, every young human we touch gets that reminder.
Core Values
💜
Love. Community. Respect. If we are not doing it with love, we are not doing it at all.
🔪
Healing is simple but not easy. We stick to the basics — a listening ear and a helping hand.
🌟
FOM is not here to fix you. We're here to support you — consistently and without judgment.
🚫
NOT anti-medication. Just not promoting it. That's a medical professional's lane.
