"Finesse Our Minds" is a suicide and self-harm mental health organization founded in May 2019 by a millennial who, after surviving multiple suicide attempts, realized the importance of spreadingawareness and prevention of pervasive dark thoughts and their negative effects.
We are a nonprofit addressing our young humans' global mental health challenges. Our goal: Shatter stigmas, provide resources, and empower young humans through community-building and peer support. We aim to equip young humans with the tools they need to recognize warning signs of struggle and take care of their mental health. United, we'll ensure no one faces their journey alone. Let's do this!
Our goal at FOM is to help young humans worldwide who struggle with dark thoughts and emotions and their negative effects, such as mental health challenges and suicidal/self-harm ideation. We are committed to normalizing conversation around these topics by raising awareness and promoting education about the realities of suicide, self-harm, and mental health struggles in young people. Ultimately, we want to reduce suicide and self-harm rates and improve mental health outcomes through innovative technology and accessible resources such as peer support.
Have you ever felt like no one understands you or that you're going through life alone?
In today's digital age, where we're all living in our own little worlds, this feeling has become increasingly common. At Finesse Our Minds, we believe that now, more than ever, human connections are crucial.
Our founders have all faced personal challenges with pervasive dark thoughts and their negative effects, either in their own lives or with loved ones. We understand that life can be tough, and sometimes it feels like no one is there to help. That's why we're here - to meet you where you are, without judgment or focus on the past.
Let's work together to create a world where no one has to feel alone.

What's up Bestie! Allow me to introduce myself.
I have a unique story that has shaped my mission to make a difference in the lives of young people around the world. As a young person, I faced immense challenges in the mental health system, having been introduced to psychiatrists, medication, and therapists at a very young age. Unfortunately, my trust in the system was shattered when I was institutionalized at 13, which left me confused and upset. This traumatic experience led me to develop coping strategies, including faking my way out and contemplating ending my life.
After spending over 15 years as a patient and employee in the mental health system, I recognized the need for change. In 2019, I decided to make it my mission to ensure that young people across the globe know that they don't have to suffer alone and that they have a voice. I am passionate about positively impacting young people's lives and strive to provide them with the support and resources they need to thrive.
Meet Kiera (She/Her-Texas)Book Kiera
Hello everyone! My name is Kiera. I’m currently a university student in the Dallas, Texas area, but I am soon to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Psychology.
I love music, poetry, languages, and self-improvement.
I’m an idealist and enjoy doing a lot of creative or artistic activities. I also like to listen to a wide variety of music.
Like many of the volunteers at Finesse Our Minds, I am passionate about mental health and suicide because I have personal experiences struggling with them and personally know others who struggle with them.
I want to eliminate the stigma that makes the lives of those already struggling even harder, foster an atmosphere in which people feel safe to be vulnerable without being judged, and help people feel connected with those who experience the same things they do.
Meet Priyanka (She/Her-Massachusetts)Book Priyanka
Hello everyone :) I am Priyanka. I'm a senior in high school, and a soon to be freshman at Northeastern in Oakland as a Biology Major. I love making and listening to music, as well as writing anything. I am also an ancient history and anthropology nerd when time calls for it! I am passionate about mental health as somebody who's been through depression, and seen the effects of mental illness myself. I volunteer at Finesse Our Minds to give others around the support that the organization gave me when I struggled the most.
Meet Ciiru (She/Her- Africa)Book Ciiru
Hey all! My name is Ciiru (pronounced Shee-ro), but you can call me Vye. I am a 23 yo Kenyan currently based in Nairobi, Kenya. I love thinking in abstracts because I think there is so much more to life than black and white. I thrive in the grays, which makes my work at Finesse Our Minds meaningful because I get constantly reminded that there is no one-size fits all to people. Finesse Our Minds is built on diversity, and I live for it. Everybody has a story, a personality, and a voice that's heard and considered. I get to 'get' people who try to 'get' me too, if that makes sense? And I wanna keep getting people like Finesse Our Minds got me. If I'm not studying psychology, you can catch me daydreaming, talking to my friends, playing Among Us, watching trashy reality tv, or eating potatoes in all its glorious forms.
Meet Keronhica (She/Her- Haiti)Book Keronhica
Hi, everybody!! My name is Keronhica, but everyone calls me Nica. I was born in New Jersey, I grew up in Florida, and I’m now living back in New Jersey as a “grownup” (I’m really a child at heart, but I have to be a grownup lol ). I’m a Scorpio, I’m 5’11”, and I’m Haitian. I have a fraternal twin sister (she’s an attorney who specializes in family law, and she’s a fitness junkie/makeup and fashion enthusiast) and a younger brother (who has a bunch of music out & he designs clothes). I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University in April 2018. I’ve been in the midst of completing a Masters of Science in Psychology (with a specialization in child and adolescent development) program at Capella University (which is strictly online) since July 2021, and I’ll be done in June 2024. I’m super passionate about music, mental health, astrology, movies, pop culture, and I love food. After I finish school, I hope to continue working in child care and have a career as making an impact on children’s mental health. I’m an overthinker, my mental health journey has been eye-opening to say the least, I’m still working through family issues/friendship conflicts, and I’m always here to listen, provide support, and make you laugh.
Meet Kyle (He/His- Arizona)Book Kyle
Hi, everyone! My name is Kyle Calvert and I am a 25 year old pilot, salesman, and music producer living in Arizona. I grew up in Minnesota and then moved to the southwest for college where I attended Arizona State and got my private pilots license and an Air Transportation Management degree. I spent a lot of time wondering if I was on the right path and stressing about the fact that other people were way ahead of me. Eventually, I came across Finesse Our Minds and gained both a great family and support system. Currently I am in sales and still trying to figure out what I want out of life but I have found that creating music is a great outlet for me and always gives me something to take my mind off the stresses of life and growing up. As someone who has had plenty of anxious and negative thoughts throughout the years, I am always willing to listen and be an outlet for those that need it. I hope that when people meet me, eventually they can trust that I am a safe person to express any sort of thoughts or emotions to, big or small.
